Extending Betza Notation for Chess Variants

Post by musketeerchess » Sat Nov 04, 2023 4:40 pm

Hi,
Majority of Chess Variants are played on 8x8 boards or bigger.

It looks logical to define pieces covering a single square for half the board.

The initial Betza Notation defined squares covering upto 3 squares from a central square.

Atom Piece Name Board Step (Coordinates)
W Wazir (1,0)
F Ferz (1,1)
D Dabbaba (2,0)
N Knight (2,1)
A Alfil (2,2)
C Camel (3,1)
H Threeleaper (3,0)
Z Zebra (3,2)
G Tripper (3,3)
O Fourleaper (4,0)
U Zurafa (4,1)
L Lancer (4,2)
T Antelope (4,3)
E Pademelon (4,4)
V Fiveleaper (5,0)
I Ibis (5,1)
S Springbok (5,2)
Y Wallaby (5,3)
X Ibex (5,4)
J Bonobo (5,5)
